What is the OBA?
The Outcomes-Based Assessment (OBA) ensures your skills meet Australian standards. It comprises three key stages:
- Self-Check
Begin by completing a self-assessment before formally submitting your registration application. - NCLEX-RN
A multiple-choice exam to evaluate your theoretical nursing knowledge. - OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination)
A practical, hands-on exam to assess your clinical and communication skills.
OBA Requirements: What You Need
To be eligible for the OBA, you must receive a referral letter from AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency), based on five criteria outlined by the NMBA:
- Criminal history check
- English language proficiency
- Continuing professional development
- Recent clinical practice
- Professional indemnity insurance
